My Travel Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits -  MY TRAVEL JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I am still working on finishing my travel journal, though i have mapped each one of the pages, and have the journal lines in place for each, i am still to print the pictures, and so on.     Thankfully this month's Clique Kits' Sundance TN kit is packed with lots of goodies from Ashley Horton's Wish You Were Here collection for Pretty Little Studio.    I had purchased a few pieces from this collection, as they are versatile to document all kinds of memories.   Let me show you how i worked the first page of my Travel Journal with this kit.

Ashley Horton has designed a free cut file,  "LET'S GO", and i thought it will be perfect as the cover backflap for my Travel Journal, so I used my Cameo to sketch the design, and used a paper piercer to create the stitching guide for the design.  An hour of stitching completed the page.

The colors in the stitching match those of the entire paper collection.  But  just to complete the page, i added a small word sticker -with a bit of foam  adhesive backing- to  the center of the go, and the title was then formed.  I used a lot of double sided tape to glue the page to the cover of the traveler's notebook.

Next, I cut one of the cards  so that i can stretch it to fit into my midori.   I used the blank space to add my picture, along with a few pieces of ephemera from the kit, and the CK exclusives.

I love that i was able to finally put together the cover page of my Travel Journal.   The stitched cover, and the card is perfect to document the picture of our boarding passes. I am in love with the colors and textures.

I hope this inspires you to take a look at the Sundance kit at Clique Kits.   It truly is beautiful.  Remember to let me know if you have any questions on how this came together.

See you all soon!

Hello Amazing

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - HELLO AMAZING -

  Hello there!

This second project  at Simple Stories blog is all about my little cousin (she was named after me!), and she is also growing up so fast, and we only get to see her when we visit our family in Ecuador, so it is easy to see how much she has changed, and i wanted to document her as she enter into her tween years.

This page started with the large heart in  background.  I drew two parallel hearts in a piece of white cardstock, and cut the edges of both hearts so that they formed a hollowed out heart.  For the background of this layout, I used one of the papers in the High Style Paper pad -that matched the colors of the Beautiful collection-, so i searched on my stash for some thin crochet yarn that matched the paper's color, and used it to wrapped the entire heart cut out.

Once the heart was completely covered in yarn, I  cut a large heart out of the mint marbled paper from the 6x8 paper pad -using the wrapped cut out as a template-, and glued it to the back of the hear cut out.  I used hot glue to attached this piece to the mat ( as i wanted to completely secure it).

There are so many floral motives in this collection, so I used a pair of fine scissors to fussy cut them from different papers, and also to trim the white edges from the stickers and die cut pieces -this allows for the flowers to mixed together without much space between them-.   I used a large number of them to layer behind the top of the heart and picture, along with some of the stickers and die cuts from this collection (there are so many to chose from)

The die cuts in this collection are just so beautiful, that i had to use them to create the title of this page.   I affixed the two die cuts at the bottom of the heart, and added a few of the floral motives behind the words.  The balloons sticker adds the little bit of whimsy to the page.

I love the end result of this page.  It has texture, softness, and lots of flowers...what is there not to love!!

I  hope these inspire you to create beautiful pages about all those special people in your life.  Trust me, once you receive the new Simple Stories BEAUTIFUL collection, you will also be looking at those special pictures to document.

AS always, let me know if you have any questions on how these came together.

Have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

BeYouTiful

Scrapbook Layout created for Simple Stories  - BEYOUTIFUL -

Hi there,

Today i am up on the Simple Stories blog with a few layouts showcasing the new BEAUTIFUL collection...

It seems like my kids are growing faster than i would like to  ;( -sad emoji-,  and with each passing day, i see how rapidly they are letting go of my hand.  So I set out to create a page about my daughter, and her ever changing youth.  I was inspired by the small doodled flowers in the collection to create a  floral background for this layout.  Since i love cut files, i pulled the Behold Beauty file from Just Nick Studio to create the large cut out used behind the picture, as the flowers reminded me of the ones in this collection.  A little bit of mixed media using the blush color of the paper bring out the details of the flowers in this page.

To create the background of this page, i cut two strips of paper from the "BeAmazing" paper -i made sure to save the floral edge for a future project-.   The b-sides of the papers in this collection are just as beautiful, so I glued the two strips so that both sides of the paper will show onto white cardstock.   Then trimmed the entire mat, and glued it to the b side of "Simply Wonderful Paper".  A bit of mixed media was then added to the page.

While the mixed media dried, I backed the cut file with pink and white vellum.   Using a punch, a created the butterflies for this layout.  I  used a combination of papers from the 6x8 paper pad to obtain the cut outs, and stitched them together.

Then it came time to embellish the layout.   So i searched for all the doodle flowers available in the collection's coordinating embellishments, and used them to create 3 clusters on the page.   The clear gold stickers worked seamlessly in the background as they mixed nicely with the watercolor background.

All the coordinating stickers, and sentiments in the sticker sheets are perfect to layer, and cluster around the pictures.   I had to restrain myself from adding more stickers to the clusters, instead, I found the black die cut "BeYouTiful" that serves as the title for this page.  Here is a look at the final page:

Aren't the colors and embellishments in this collection just Beautiful!  They are soft, and bold at the same time, but perfect for my teen daughter.

The next layout is coming up on the next post.  Remember to contact me if you have any questions.

See you all soon!!

H2O Play

Scrapbook Layout created for Scrapbook Nerd - H2O PLAY -

Hello there!

Today, I am up on the Scrapbook Nerd  (we took a break for the Summer season) with a new layout that showcases the newly released All Angles.  The cut file was designed by the Cut Shoppe exclusively for Scrapbook Nerd, and you can get your own copy of the cut file for free at the store.

This cut file is so versatile, and can be used to document all types of memories.   We have had a packed Summer season, so it was only fitting i chose one of the pictures to document.

For this layout, the cut file was altered at bit, so that it stands out of the page.  For this, an offset was added to the entire shape, and then only about half of the cut file was used to create the cut out.

While the cut file was being produced, i created a watercolor background using some Distress Inks  so that it recreates the color of the water in the swimming pool.

Once the cut file was ready, i  liked the look of the negative triangles as little flaps so i used a bit of foam adhesive to keep them as such, while choosing to back just a few of the rest with papers from the Bella Blvd.  Secrets of the Sea collections.

I kept the decorations on the clusters to a minimum so that all the parts of this page will pop and work  harmoniously together.

A combination of textures was then used to create the title for this page.   I just love the look of the dimension of this page.  Here is the final layout:

I hope you like the final result of the page, and that it serves as inspiration to create with this great cut file,  Remember to stop by Scrapbook Nerd to pick your free copy of the file.  As always, I am a comment away, if you need any assistance.

See you all soon!

My Summer Journal

Traveler's Notebook Spread created for Clique Kits - MY SUMMER JOURNAL -

Hello there!

I hope you all are enjoying the last days of summer.   We are ready to go back to school, here in Toronto,  next week.. YAY!!  But since our break has been packed with so many adventures, i have been keeping  a Summer Journal.  I love memory keeping, and the new Sundance Kit from Clique Kits was perfect to document those small moments.

I cut one of the cards from the Prettly Litte Studio's "Wish You Were Here" collection that was included in this month's kit.   I just followed the lines of the card, and obtained the corner triangles that were glued to the corners of one of the pages.

I used the corners of the triangles as guiding lines to attach the picture to the page, and added small details on the picture, and strips with the typed journal.

I wanted to tie in the outdoor feel of the picture to the lines in the page, so i chose to use my editing software to create my own patterned paper.   I simply copied some of this month's  CK exclusive printables -as the colors matched those of the lines in the triangles-.   Then a few pieces from the kit, and the little stamp from Altenew complete the page:

I love how the color palette of the page marries the lines and the wreaths with the picture of my litlles playing outside.   And it all came together in no time!  Remember to check the Clique Kits website to see all that is included in the Sundance kit, either main or TN,  you will love it!

If you have any questions on how this came together, remember to leave me a comment.

Take care,

High School Smile

Scrapbook Layout created for JustNick Studio  - HIGH SCHOOL SMILE -

Hi there!

It is Nathalie back today with a new layout to share with you.  Can you believe it is time to get the kids ready to go back to school -here in Canada-?  With that in mind, i had to document the picture of  my kids on their first day of high school (gr. 9 & 11 respectively).

The idea for this page was to recreate a large file, for that i trimmed the white cardstock to fit inside the layout, and used the  File Folders cut file to create a large tab that hides under the layout's mat.

I glued the tab to the page's mat, followed by the trimmed cardstock.  Then a bit of mixed media was used to create the background behind the picture and title (I wanted to be authentic to my kids's folders at the end of the year, so a bit of distress fits them to a tee!).

I am a sucker for large titles, so i created the one featured in this page by welding  the letters from the Shattered Alpha cut file (spelling High School) with the "Smile" from the Word 4 cut file.   Then used papers from Bella Blvd, to back the spaces, and attached it on top of the mixed media background using some foam tape.

Finally to complete the page, I added the b/w version of the picture to the side of the title.  The Word Tab cut file was handy to create the small tab that was added to the cluster on the pictures.   A few more small details complete the page.

I love the final look of the page!  I hope this inspires you to document those 1st day of school smiles using some of the JustNick Studio cut files.  As for me, I will be doing a small happy dance once they leave for school, followed by a few tears of sadness as they are leaving me!.

You can always contact me if you have any questions on how this page came together.

See you all soon!

Shine

Scrapbook Layout created for Maya Road   - SHINE -

Hi there!

I hope you are all doing well.  Today, i am up on the Maya Road DT blog with the  last day of the Maya Road and Photoplay Product/Blog swap.    Please visit the Maya Road DT blog to see all the deatails of the swap.   But know let me show you what i created for this swap using the beautiful Maya Road products, and the super fun Mad 4 Plaid collection from Photoplay.

For my project, I wanted to recreate a Christmas tree just like the one my daughter is sit under in the picture.  Since there are so many beautiful patterns in the Photoplay's  Mad 4 Plaid collection,  i tried to combined them all by using 1x12 in long strips to create paper rosettes.  These were then glued -and stacked- to recreate the Christmas tree silhouette.

Once the entire tree shape was created, I started adding details to the center of each rosette using the sequin stickers from the Mad 4 Plaid sticker sheet, along with some of the Maya Road Pearl Button Trim, and Pearl Flower Trim that were cut individually, and glued to the center of each rosette.

To tie in the picture to the layout, I used a few wood tokens as centers for some of the rosettes -the wood tokens come from the Wood Classic Tokens,  Wood Love Tokens,  Wood Beloved Tokens - .  A little bit of gold acrylic paint was all that was needed to add some shine to each of the tokens.   In addition, since the papers color palette had some grey in it, i added some Silver Star Pins scattered at the edge of the tree.

Every tree needs a topper!, so I pulled some of the Snowflake Chipboard Set, and used gold foil on two of their matching snowflakes (same star, different sizes) to tie in with the gold shine in the wooden tokens; then just glued them together, and affixed it to the top paper rosette.  Our Christmas tree usually has a large bow right under the star, so I added one of the White Pretty Resin Bow to recreate our Christmas tree.

The Mad 4 Plaid collection comes filled ith beautiful papers fun stickers and die cut pieces.   I used some of the stickers to create clusters around the picture, and one of the die cut pieces "SHINE" serves as the title for this project.   To make the small title/die cut pop, i used the Sparkle and Die Steel Die set to create a few star sequin from some of the 6x6  papers from the collection, and then just glued them around the title.

Here is a close up of one of the clusters around the picture, once again,  i used a combination of embellishments, plus I added my favorite charm from the Ken Oliver Heart & Key Charm set to the cluster.
A few flickers of gold paint, and a few lines of journal complete the page.  Can i say that the beautiful Maya Road along with the Mad 4 Plaid collection from Photoplay made it easy to document a memory in July (it was a humid day the day i created this page!!).

Remember to stop by the blog to check all the projects created this week, and leave a comment on each entry, there will be a prize for a lucky comment.  As usual, let me know if you have questions on how this came together.

See you all soon,
